Hong Kong, where here

This morning we landed in Hong Kong, one hour early, we must have had a tailwind!

This meant we got in around 05:50 am and by the time we got through the airport and then to the bus terminal it was around 07:00 am.

We had planned to catch bus A22 as the route practically passes our hotel, but on landing found the yearly Hong Kong Marathon was on and in turn, the bus routes had been carved up and redirected by the bus company.
Thankfully the officer at the bus terminal was able to help and advised we would be better on bus A21.

The bus was a great way for us to get into town as it stopped about 300 meters from the hotel, whereas the subway would have needed us to change trains and possibly stations too.  Thanks for the advice Chan.

We also purchased an Octopus card to cover the bus trips and metro we will be using in the coming days. With this card, we can also use it in other places like 7 Eleven and even on a Taxi. All we need to do is keep loading the cards with cash.  The best bit is when we leave HK we can return the card, get back unused funds and if I understand correctly, get our deposit back.

So getting into town and checking into the hotel at 08:00 am was not going to happen and we didn't expect to either, so we dropped our bags and then went for a walk, down Nathan Road taking part in the Marathon, surely watching is taking part?

We checked out the Kowloon Park, where we saw some wise old men, people practising Thai Chi, the Avairy, turtles and Flamingoes. Amazing.

Continuing to fight the jetlag, we kept walking and were offered many 'copies of watches', 'new suits' and who knows what else.

We returned back to the hotel around midday and were able to get into our room and have a welcome shower.

We opted for the buffet at the hotel for lunch today as fatigue started to set in and there is a good chance we could be a public safety concern unconsciously crossing the busy streets.

We are going to try and push through till 17:00 (20:00 AEDT) before going to bed, I know it sounds early but we only had about three or four hours sleep in the last 24 hours.

Only a little sleepy
